I would imagine many of you are interested in this daily devotional on God's characteristics and names because you already know the One True God but want a better understanding of Him. Maybe some of you are just fascinated with what someone would teach about the One True God. But whatever your reason, I am glad you are taking the time to do it. You will not regret it.

I believe you are not doing this devotional by accident. God led you to this study, to yes get to know Him, but maybe for another reason that only He knows.

In this devotional you will learn such things as:

Knowing the right God

Many people throughout the world believe in a god or in multiple gods, but they don't believe in the One True God as He revealed Himself in the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, called the Bible. And how can you believe in the right God if you don't know Him?

Some of you might be thinking now, "What does she mean by the 'One True God'? Aren't all gods the same? Is there really a One True God?" We can all struggle with who the One True God is. I have. In effect, all other gods are the same because they are conceived by humans; but the One True God is different. He is the One Who brought forth our existence and everything else in existence, and sustains that existence. God is the Self-Existent One, Who astonishingly created us to love us and have a relationship with us. I have been a Christian for decades, and I am still amazed daily on how exalted but personal our God is.

...So that you may know and believe Me. And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, and there will be none after Me. "I, even I, am the LORD, and there is no savior besides Me." Isaiah 43:10-11 NASB®

Why is it so important to know the One True God? The One True God is the only god that gives the certainty of eternal life. Therefore, knowing and consequently believing in the One True God determines where you go after death. I believe we all want that assurance.

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. / For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 17:3, 3:16 NASB®

There are books and shows out there that fictionally portray the One True God. Since some of these are popular, it demonstrates people are interested in God. This is a good thing. However, it is very counterproductive to your Christian faith as well as your eternity, if your information about God is incorrect. Knowing God, like Daniel in the Old Testament did, is so important. That's why in this daily devotional, I describe God from many Bible passages, so that you can read and study for yourself Who God really is.

Daniel said, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him." Daniel 2:20-22 NASB®

Is knowing and understanding the One True God important to you? I would imagine it is, because you are taking the time to do this devotional.

Life Application

God's true happily ever after story

Many of our favorite movies and books have happily ever after endings. These endings come about because good conquers evil, and true love wins the day. A happily ever after story that was in theatres when I began to write this was the new Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. (Honestly, I have ended up watching this movie three times.) These happily ever after stories are thought of as enchanted make believe tales.

What many people don't realize, or maybe just do not understand, is that the One True God did create us all to live happily ever after. God's true story goes like this: Millenniums ago in the beginning of time, the One True God personally created the very good world for humankind to live forever in. However, evil temporarily triumphed since Adam and Eve chose the evil villain, Satan, over the loving Creator. But not all was lost. The One True God had an eternal plan to conquer evil, so His true love for us can reign without end; and of course, we will live happily ever after with Him. If you are wondering where I found this beautiful tale as old as time, well it is found in God's Book, the Bible, which is as true as time itself.

This true happily ever after story about the One True God is just the beginning. There is so much more to learn about God. Each day in this devotional, you will cover a topic or two about God; so that by the end of the 33 days, you will have an all-encompassing picture in your mind of Who the One True God really is. If you are diligent to read and look up all the Bible verses in this devotional, your view of God will be heading in the right direction.
